When writer and illustrator David Shannon was five years old, he wrote a semi-autobiographical story of a little kid who broke all his mother's rules. Years later, it became the basis for his 1999 Caldecott Honor book, No, David! (which went on to be named a New York Times Best Illustrated Book, a School Library Journal Best Book, and an American Bookseller Pick of the Lists) and its sequels, David Goes to School and David Gets In Trouble. As if that’s not enough to fulfill any illustrator’s wildest dreams, he’s also collaborated with Jon Scieszka on the popular Trucktown series, created a slew of award-winning picture books and had his artwork published in Rolling Stone magazine!
