I loved the kooky poems & drawings when I was a kid. Now I am passing them on to my son & having a ball with it!

A "Must-Have"!
July 20, 2010

Shel's works have been read in my family for 3 generations now, & they never grow old..the stories, not the kids! Shel manages to crawl into the imaginations of children, and puts pen to paper, writing stories and poems that children can easily imagine. More importantly, children feel that someone understands their world. And in reading these marvelous poems, children feel the spark of hope that maybe, just maybe.....the reader (the parent?) is able to peep into their world. Each pearl potentially provokes discussions: Do dragons make good pets? Should there should be a limit on the number of children bathing in one tub? Do you really die if you do not get your way (and all of the drama involved with that situation?). Shel weaves wonderful, silly, crazy tales in such a way that children learn about appropriate behavior, values, and acceptance/tolerance of others. Shel, my grandchildren will grow up with you!! Uh, that is, if you ever grew up yourself!:)
