Eldest

Christopher Paolini was just fifteen years old when he began writing the Inheritance trilogy. Now in his early twenties, he’s already being compared to the masters of the fantasy genre. In the much-anticipated second installment of Paolini’s magical saga, The Eldest, young Eragon and his deep-blue dragon, Saphira, continue their “epic journey of Tolkienesque proportions...” (School Library Journal).

Eragon and Saphira have just saved the rebel state from certain destruction by the evil King Galbatorix and his dark forces. Now our hero must resume his education in the arts of magic and swordsmanship—skills all Dragon Riders must perfect. So the boy and his serpent-tongued sidekick journey to Ellesméra, land of the elves. But evil lurks along the way. Will Eragon survive this harrowing journey? Ages 12 and up.

Being Inspired....
February 20, 2010

I know Chris receives a great deal of criticism for so-called plagerism, however all great artists, whether they be writers, painters, dancers, or musicians, are inspired by the works of others and incorporate those styles into their own works. This is the ultimate form of flattery in my book. I think the books are awesome and will continue reread them again and again, and when my children are skilled enough in their reading I will encourage them to read the story too. I think these could become classics in their own right.

This book had a great story line, but it also had a lot of long slow parts. I would only suggest this book to a fast reader who could read through the slow parts quickly. Otherwise this book is very hard to get through.

Eragon was a great story and trip w/ adventure, this book was a story about nothing that couldn't have been sumed up in two chapters, then complete the series w/ the war and whatever he has planed in the next installment. Two books not three. I'm not going to buy in the last book.
